What is a Multilayer PCB?

A multilayer PCB, or Printed Circuit Board, is an electronic component that consists of multiple layers of conductive material (typically copper) sandwiched between layers of insulating material (such as fiberglass epoxy resin). This design allows for complex circuits to be etched onto different layers, which are then interconnected through plated-through holes (PTHs) or vias. This multilayer structure provides greater routing density, better signal integrity, and reduced crosstalk between signals, making it ideal for advanced electronic systems requiring high levels of integration and performance. Multilayer PCBs are widely used in various industries, including telecommunications, computers, medical devices, and aerospace, where compact size, reliability, and high-speed data transmission are crucial.
